For the purposes of this policy;
Caller means the person originating a call using
a telecommunications service whether or not that person is also
the Customer in relation to the telecommunications service;
CLI means Caller Line Identification;
CND means Caller Number Display;
Customer means the subscriber to a telecommunications
service;
Member means a subscriber of a service provided
by Alphalink (Australia) Pty Ltd;
Alphalink has the ability to collect CLI information from Members
using dial-up services provided by Alphalink regardless of whether the Customer has an unlisted telephone service.
The CLI information, along with the time, date and duration of
a call is stored on a secure server.
Alphalink has the ability to view CND information when a Customer
makes a call to one of the call centre numbers provided by Alphalink regardless of whether the Customer has blocked sending it.
The CND information is not stored by Alphalink.
Alphalink will use CLI or CND information for the following purposes:
- The use is made in the performance of the duties of Alphalink;
or
- The Member has consented to the use; or
- Alphalink reasonably believes that the use is necessary
to lessen or prevent a serious and imminent threat to an individual's
life or health; or
- Alphalink has reason to suspect that unlawful activity
has been, is being or may be engaged in, and uses the personal
information as a necessary part of its investigation of the matter
or in reporting its concerns to the relevant persons or authorities;
or
- The use is required or specifically authorised by law;
or
- The use is reasonably necessary for the enforcement of the
criminal law, a law imposing a pecuniary penalty, or for the protection
of the public revenue.
In accordance with the ACIF Industry Code - Calling
Number Display, Alphalink may also use CLI and CND information
in a number of other ways. In the event Alphalink chooses to exercise
those options, details of that usage will be outlined in this
policy.
Should a Member or a Customer have a complaint with respect to
the use of CLI or CND information, the complaint should be made
in accordance with Dispute Resolution Policy of Alphalink.
