The router configuration is done through your browser.
In your browser (Internet Explorer) enter 192.168.1.254 into the Address bar and press Enter.

You will be prompted to enter a username and password for the router.
By default this should be "admin" for both username and password.

You should now be in the router's menu.
Click on Wizard Setup to begin the configuration.

These settings are vital. Make sure your settings reflect these, then click Next

Enter the username and password as provided on your information letter.
Depending on your account type, your username may be one of 3 different formats:
"username@alphalink.com.au", "username@residential.alphadsl.com.au", or "username@alphalink.your-dsl.net"
Then click Next.

Click Save Settings.

To test the configuration, click Start Diagnose.

Wait 20 seconds for diagnostics process.

If all 5 tests show Passed, then you should be online. Try browsing to a website.
