Windows 2000 LAN Configuration

  1. Click on Start, select Settings, then select Network and Dial-up Connections. Select or double-click on the Local Area Connection for your device.
  2. The Local Area Connection Status window will now open. Click Properties.
  3. Under This connections uses the following items, only Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) should be ticked. For security reasons, make sure that Client for Microsoft Networks and File and Printer Sharing are both unticked.
  4. Select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) then click Properties. Put a dot next to Use the following IP address, then enter your IP address, which will be in the form 10.x.x.x. Set the Subnet Mask to 255.255.255.0 and the Default Gateway for your node, which will be in the form 10.x.x.1. The IP address and Gateway you need to use will have been provided at the time of installation. The DNS server addresses should be Preferred DNS: 10.0.1.2 Alternate DNS: 10.0.1.3
  5. Now, click Ok then Ok again.
