QRP Awards and Contests

There are various awards and contests specifically for the QRPer. One of the newest is the Milliwatts per Kilometre Award sponsored by the CW Operators QRP Club. This award is designed to promote long-distance contacts with output powers of 1 watt or less. The Milliwatts per Kilometre Award is available to both phone and CW operators.

The CW Operators QRP Club also sponsors a series of QRP scrambles (mini-contests) to encourage CW QRP activity. There is at least one 80 metre scramble each month. Extra scrambles are held on other bands from time to time. The major QRP contest in Australia is the QRP Day Contest, held mid-June each year. This runs for five hours, allows activity on all bands and gives bonus points for the use of homebrew equipment.

Click here for information on QRP Club sponsored awards, contests and scrambles.

QRPers also enter non-QRP contests. Those with high levels of activity, such as the Remembrance Day and John Moyle are particularly enjoyable. Click here for information on major Australian and international contests.
